APPRENTICESHIP

J. & F. Krüth GmbH is developing in the field of engraving. The training period lasts for three years.

Training consists of both practical experience and block instruction in a trade-school. Alongside the basic professional skills, training as an engraver also involves many creative aspects.

So, as well as calligraphy (decorative penmanship), heraldry (the science of armorial bearings) and identification of various architectural styles, students are taught to draw with ink and pencil. Draughtsmanship and Reprophotography as well as the use of the PC and Mac are nowadays professional requirements.

Besides the training at college and in the workplace, J. & F. Krüth also finances attendance at supplementary evening classes fostering drawing ability. Training is completed with the award of the Engraver’s Apprenticeship Diploma.

J. & F. Krüth GmbH trains people primarily for its own requirements, that is, those who have learned their trade here up to now have been employed here.

These training priorities show what abilities prospective engravers should have at their command.

  • Creative and artistic interests.
  • Patience, even with fiddly jobs.
  • At least average maths ability.
